6:30 - 7:30PM: Breaking Gender/Diversity Barriers Panel moderated by Ingrid Burton,

7:30 – 9:00PM: H2O Driverless AI Hands on Lab by Michelle Tanco, (please bring your laptop and power chord)

This training and workshop are geared towards the data science practitioner wanting to dive deep into H2O Driverless AI. With Driverless AI, everyone including expert and junior data scientists, domain scientists, and data engineers can develop trusted machine learning models. This next-generation automatic machine learning platform delivers unique and advanced functionality for data visualization, feature engineering, model interpretability and low-latency deployment.

About Erin LeDell

Erin is the Chief Machine Learning Scientist at Erin has a Ph.D. in Biostatistics with a Designated Emphasis in Computational Science and Engineering from University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on automatic machine learning, ensemble machine learning and statistical computing. She also holds a B.S. and M.A. in Mathematics. Before joining, she was the Principal Data Scientist at (acquired by GE Digital in 2016) and Marvin Mobile Security (acquired by Veracode in 2012), and the founder of DataScientific, Inc.

About Yimei Guo

Strategic and result-driven technology executive with extensive experience in Investment Research, Global Capital Markets, CRM, Content Management, and Intranet and Internet Sites and Digital Marketing. Led highly motivated global development teams that solve complex problems with a wide range of technologies: Big Data, Machine Learning, NLP, Web, Desktop and Mobile. Built strategic partnerships with business to deliver solutions, driving business results. Strong track record of delivering innovative products.

About Josie Williams

Josie is currently a research assistant at NYU Medical Center working with a team to implement machine learning into healthcare with the goal to create technology that can predict chronic kidney disease more than two years in advance. Her particular role deals with algorithmic fairness and ensuring universal accuracy for all demographic subgroups. Josie also previously worked as the Engineering Lead at Draft.Fish, where she managed a team of developers and assisted in programming a time management application called Robin, which is now in its beta phase.

Josie is also founder and president of an organization called Students of Color in Computer Science, which is based at NYU. One of the things she finds of utmost importance is bringing computer education and general exposure to software development to underrepresented demographics. There, the club serves to promote the growth and development of a community of people of color passionate about computer science. Our overall goal is to increase the number of people of color in the computer science field by holding workshops to teach basic programming concepts, volunteering at organizations geared towards minorities, and providing opportunities for internships outside of an academic setting.

About Ingrid Burton

Ingrid Burton is CMO at, the open source leader in AI. She has several decades of experience leading global marketing teams to build brands, create demand, and engage and grow communities. She also serves as an independent director on the Aerohive board. Prior to she was CMO at Hortonworks, where she drove a brand and marketing transformation, and created ecosystem programs that positioned the company for growth. At SAP she co-created the Cloud strategy, led SAP HANA and Analytics marketing, and drove developer outreach.

She also served as CMO at Silver Spring Networks and Plantronics after spending almost 20 years at Sun Microsystems, where she was head of Sun marketing, led Java marketing to build out a thriving Java developer community, championed and led open source initiatives, and drove various product and strategic initiatives. A developer early in her career, Ingrid holds a BA in Math with a concentration in Computer Science from San Jose State University.

Lili is a recognized cultural intelligence® expert, World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and an award-winning entrepreneur. She came to the U.S. at the age of 17, leaving her entire family behind in Colombia, and managed to become a recognized corporate executive turned entrepreneur and tech-innovator. She is also the recipient of many recognitions including being awarded as 2019 Silicon Valley Visionary, 2019 Top 10 Innovation Catalyst, 2018 Hispanic Businessperson of the Year by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, listed in the 2018 Power Women 100 as one of the most powerful women in New York, 2018 Women of Excellence Award, Top 50 Healthcare Influencers by PRWeek, among others. Lili is an advocate to minority and women-owned businesses contributing to initiatives at The United Nations, The World Economic Forum, The White House and around the world. Lili serves as a board member of the Harvard Women's Leadership Board, National Board of Directors of the YMCA USA and mentor to the Stanford Latino Entrepreneur Leaders Program. In 2017 she was appointed by Governor Cuomo to join the New York State Council on Women and Girls and Mayor Bill de Blasio to join the NYCx Technology Leadership Council. Hands-on Lab Session Speaker Bio - Michelle Tanco

Michelle is a Customer Solutions Engineer & Data Scientist for Prior to H2O she worked as a Senior Data Science Consultant for Teradata, focused on leading analytics projects to solve cross-industry business problems. Her background is in pure math and computer science and she is passionate about applying these skills to answer real-world questions. When not coding or thinking of analytics, Michelle can be found hanging out with her dog or playing the ukulele.
