Reusable Rockets, Rapid Operations, and Smallsat Launch
With over 200 launches on a single vehicle, Masten Space Systems has developed unique insights on designing and building highly operable, reusable launch vehicles. Masten is using these insights to develop a smallsat launcher that can meet the needs of the growing smallsat community.
David Masten is the founder, Chairman, and Chief Technology Officer for Masten Space Systems. David was the lead designer on all of Masten’s groundbreaking reusable VTVL rockets, including Xoie and Xombie, the company’ s highly praised winners of the prestigious Northrop Grumman Lunar Lander Challenge. He continues his central role in the development of Masten’s next generation reusable vehicles, both leading Masten’s technology development team and as one of its active members.
Dennis Wonica will discuss the Formation of a Space Consortium in Southern California and what it means for small businesses. A Request for Information was released on 17 Oct 16 for formation of a SPACE ENTERPRISE CONSORTIUM with Acquisition, Contracting, and Management by USAF SMC in El Segundo. The projected spend ceiling is $100M.
Other Transaction Authority for Prototype Projects shall be used as the acquisition vehicle, and the Scope is broadly RDT&E for: space vehicles, payloads, launch capabilities, and associated ground segments.
