About this event

This event will recognize seven Greater Huntsville Section members who had their member rank elevated to Associate Fellow and were inducted in 2022. We hope you can join us for this event, which also serves as a holiday networking/social for our section. Associate fellows from GHS for 2022 include: George Story, Naveen Vetcha, Richard Tuggle, John Vickers, Jody Singer, Andy Crocker, and Robert Harris.

Our guest speaker is Dr. Roger Launius, who will give a talk entitled: "Why Go to the Moon? Apollo, the Space Race, and the Many Faces of Lunar Exploration"

About Dr. Launius: Roger D. Launius is Principal of Launius Historical Services, Auburn, Alabama. Between 1990 and 2002 he served as chief historian of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. From there he moved to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., where he served most recently as Associate Director for Collections and Curatorial Affairs until retirement in 2017.
