Event Details

Join AIA Spokane, CSI Spokane and the IIDA for a joint tour of The Chronicle Apartments on Tuesday March 21.

Members of these organizations are invited to gather post tour at the adjacent Tamarack Public House for some refreshments hosted by CSI Spokane and the IIDA.

The tour and presentation shows an example, nearly complete, in Spokane’s urban core, of preservation and restoration. The change of use supplies much needed housing to Spokane’s urban core and promotes social well-being in a community where context and sense of place are important factors.  Marian Evenson, ASID, of MMEC Architecture & Interiors will be our guide.

The presentation will cover the history of the Chronicle Building.  It was originally designed and constructed to house the afternoon newspaper and the newspaper printing presses.  We will discuss the building changes in the 1980’s that converted the building to tenant office space and discuss its new use as a mixed-use apartment building.  More Details.

Please gather at 5:30pm in the event space on the west side of the first floor of the Chronicle Building to start the Tour.

If you are not a member of any of the three sponsoring organizations Certificates of Completion are $10.
