WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
As Ancestral Health practitioners, we act as change agents. But, sometimes facilitating change and getting our clients/patients to reach their health goals can be quite complex. For some, a web of physiological, psychological, and environmental challenges can make committing to self-care and a lifestyle change more difficult. This workshop will be a client-focused interactive session to provide the practitioner with better understanding of the roadblocks that makes change more difficult and offer strategies to capitalize on your client’s resources and supports to make possible success to reach their health goals.

TARGET AUDIENCE & REASON TO PARTICIPATE
Medical Professionals, Mental Health Professionals, Registered Dietitians, Nutritionists, Coaches and others working with clients/patients to facilitate health and wellbeing. Case study examples suggested by workshop attendees will be discussed, incorporating views from different ancestral health professionals. This workshop is intended to widen the aperture of understanding the different skill sets employed to facilitate lifestyle changes. Join in for an integrative in-depth discussion.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This Nutrition Counseling and Coach workshop is designed to help participants develop their counseling skills to better reach, relate to and help their clients. It will be a hands on, interactive session in which participants will be able to run through real client scenarios together and learn from one another. We will also discuss how to breakdown scientific and complex topics and cover aspects of material/form design, available resources and tools that will be helpful in practice.

Registered Dietitians, Nutritionists, Coaches and others working with clients to improve nutrition and/or relationship with food. This workshop is an excellent way to build your counseling skills and learn methods for dealing with different client types with different goals. It will be an interactive, high energy, fun workshop. WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
At the Combat Movement Workshop you will learn a few cool facts about the history and evolution of combat, but the real goal of this movement session is to experience the physical and mental adaptations yourself.
While I couldn’t convince AHS13 program chair, Kamal Patel, to let me bring a cage to the conference room, we’ll still be simulating a combat athlete’s training environment. Together we’ll do two short bodyweight HIIT (high intensity interval training) sessions and practice sweet skills that would make an assailant three times your size whimper.
Even if you’re totally green and the word guillotine makes you think more of the French Revolution than combat, I can promise this will be a good time.

TARGET AUDIENCE & REASON TO PARTICIPATE
People who are incredibly excited about the 3 full days of brilliant biochemical lecture, but nervous their excessive energy and/or ADHD may cause them to jump out of their seat uncontrollably if there’s no hope for release.
Or if you’re just interested in getting a HIIT (high intensity interval training) session in with a cool group of people using body weight exercises ... while learning a couple jiu-jitsu moves while you’re at it.

OBJECTIVES
1. Loosen up stiff joints from sitting a good bit of the day with two short interval training sessions using bodyweight exercises.
2. Practice sweet skills that would make an assailant three times your size whimper.
3. Experience a bite-sized taste of the physiological and neurological adaptation of combat that was all-too-familiar to our ancestors.

Kyle Maynard is a motivational speaker, author, entrepreneur and athlete. Despite being born with arms that end at the elbows and legs near the knees, Kyle’s wrestled for one of the best teams in the Southeast, set records in weightlifting, fought in mixed martial arts, and most recently became the first man to crawl on his own to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

DESCRIPTION
Pre-registration recommended. Most hunter-gatherer peoples experience natural and biologically appropriate oscillations in their sleep patterns, activity, and nutrient intake with the change of the seasons. A circa-annual rhythm is deeply entwined with our genetic heritage, and we believe that the nearly complete modern departure from that seasonal pattern has contributed to the decline of human health in the industrial age. Furthermore, it is our view that seasonally mismatched nutrition, activity, and sleep patterns can erode long-term health, even if each individual component is technically “Paleo” or ancestrally appropriate. We discuss our Seasonal Model for Health in both "corrective" and "optimal" phases.
