Vermont Cheese Community & Friends

"In the the past 8 months, Daphne's friends and colleagues from California to New York, from Ann Arbor to Chicago, and places in between, have hosted fund-raising events for the Daphne Zepos Teaching Award. As I heard and read about the outpouring of support for her legacy scholarship, it seemed only fitting that we organize an event here in Vermont to    celebrate how Daphne influenced our cheese community as a friend, mentor, resource, champion, and inspiration. My original idea was to host a casual party where folks could share some good cheese and wine, pay tribute to Daphne and raise a little money for the the scholarship. So I started making phone calls; First I called Allison Hooper and Mateo Kehler, then Willow Smart and Cathy Donnelly. Everyone said "Yes! How can I help?". Then I called my chef friends, Maura O'Sullivan and Robin Schempp. Again "Yes! How can I help?" Ari Weinzweig agreed to come speak. Chefs and producers jumped in and offered to cook. Other cheesemakers signed up. Students volunteered. Melinda Moulton offered a fantastic venue. Marta Tursi at Borealis designed a cool logo. Seven Days got on board. Everyone just kept saying "Yes!" Ultimately my little party evolved into a truly cooperative, energized, innovative and exciting event that seems the perfect tribute for someone who lived her life with such passion and force. I hope you'll come!"
