Overview

Learn lifesaving CPR and AED skills in a hands-on class open to both community members & medical professionals. Optional AHA certification.

Sudden cardiac arrest claims hundreds of thousands of lives each year, and immediate CPR can double or triple survival. Penfield Webster EMS offers AHA Basic Life Support and Heartsaver CPR courses to help community members learn the skills needed to act quickly and confidently in an emergency.

The class follows the latest American Heart Association guidelines and meets requirements for general employment, OSHA, healthcare providers, and USCG. No medical background is required.

What You’ll Learn

  • High‑quality CPR skills for adults and children
  • Recognizing cardiac arrest and when to begin CPR
  • Using an AED safely and effectively
  • Relieving choking in adults and children
  • Working with others during a resuscitation attempt

This instructor‑led course includes hands‑on practice, simulated scenarios, and skills testing with an AHA‑certified instructor.

*This class is FREE for Penfield and Webster residents. A two‑year certification card is available for a small fee. BLS certification is also available for healthcare professionals.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
