About this Event

71% of organizations have adopted Agile methodologies. Many industries outside of software, including finance, healthcare, and hospitality are seeing the benefits of Agile delivery. This virtual four session program provides an introduction to Agile concepts in an accessible, and easy to understand format. The curriculum is designed for those wanting to explore Agile within the context of a project or product. In addition, senior leaders interested in learning more about this movement that is changing how we approach work will find much value in the sessions.

Topics covered in this program include:

  • Agile Through an Enterprise-level lens
  • Agile Scheduling
  • Agile Estimation
  • Scaling Agile Enterprise Wide

Learners who complete all four sessions will receive an Agile Bootcamp certificate from Nichols College and each of the following sessions qualify for PMI© PDUs. If a learner misses a session, they will have access to a recording for a limited time.

Learners may also choose to only attend select sessions. For each session attended, the learner will received PMI© PDUs, but will not receive a Nichols College certificate unless all are attended.

March 10, 2020 – 6-8PM - Introduction to Agile: Principles and Practices Description: This session grounds the learner in the historical context and need for Agile. It introduces tools and frameworks to determine Agile suitability for projects and/or products. Learners will explore Agile in a non-technical, jargon free, and accessible format. This session is designed for beginners in both technical and non-technical industries.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Apply various Agile frameworks and methodologies to execute complex and high-risk projects in organizations.
  2. Review the historical context of Agile.
  3. Examine organizational challenges from the lens of an Agile Practitioner.

Qualifies for 2 Technical PDUs for the following certifications:

March 17, 2020 – 6-8PM - Agile Planning and Scheduling Description: How do you manage a project when the scope is expected to continuously change? What do product requirements look like when working in an Agile environment? This session introduces writing requirements using user stories, as well scheduling and release planning techniques required to deliver in a an Agile context. Learners will review how Agile planning differs from traditional project planning. The sessions explores effective planning within the enterprise context and not just within a project team.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Evaluate the difference between traditional/waterfall and Agile planning.
  2. Practice writing epics and user stories.
  3. Review Agile backlogs, sprints, and release scheduling.

March 24, 2020 – 6-8PM- Estimation Techniques in Agile Description: This session walks learners through relative estimation using various techniques, such as planning poker, T-Shirt Sizing, and story points. The session introduces conceptual cases to demonstrate effective estimation techniques. Learners also practice calculating velocity and gain a holistic understanding of its application.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Create an understanding of the basic concepts of estimation, to provide context for how this is done in Agile.
  2. Evaluate the techniques used for estimation in Agile.
  3. Calculate velocity and understand its usage.

March 31, 2020 – 6-8PM - Embracing Agile and Organization Implementation Description: This session will cover barriers to embracing enterprise-wide Agile, and how to overcome them. Agile leadership techniques are introduced with cases of how they have been applied. Learners reflect on how they can apply Agile to their practice in their organizations.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review obstacles to embracing Agile enterprise wide.
  2. Review methods in scaling Agile.
  3. Apply leadership techniques in Leading Agile initiatives.

Qualifies for 1 Technical and 1 Strategic/Business PDU for the following certifications:
