Event description
Featuring the work of six Bay Area choreographers, this performance is an embodied response to the exhibition AFTER/LIFE.

About this Event

The Center for the Arts & Religion at the Graduate Theological Union presents After/Life: Danced Reflections on April 24th and 25th from 7 - 8:30pm. Featuring the work of seven Bay Area choreographers, After/Life is an embodied response to the artwork currently on display in the Spring exhibition at the Doug Adams Gallery, Berkeley.

The large-scale paintings by Ed Aulerich-Sugai and textile burial garments by Mark Mitchell reflect rituals for dealing with death and remembrance, particularly in the wake of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Through a series of solo dances in the gallery, each choreographer brings their kinetic response to the space and the art via their site-specific creation.

Performers: Carla De Sola, James Graham, Melissa Hudson Bell, Cherie Hill, Erik Lee, David McCauley, and Megan Nicely
