Event description

Description

What is a human being? Is there such a thing as human nature? How should Christian theology respond to modern conceptions of autonomy and will, body and soul, gender and sex? What common ground exists between Protestant and Catholic theology in the face of modern, secular ideologies? What can Protestants learn from Roman Catholic thinkers such as Prudence Allen and John Paul II? How should Humanae Vitae be evaluated today, fifty years after its publication? Join us for a vigorous discussion sponsored by Davenant Institute and Wycliffe College with Mark Garcia and Craig Carter.

Friday, May 25th:
7:00-8:00PM: “A Reformed Protestant Response to John Paul II’s Defence of Humanae Vitae in The Theology of the Body” (Craig Carter, Tyndale University College and Seminary)

8:00-9:00PM: "Vocation, Installation, and Relation in Gender: A "Prudential” Contribution" (Mark Garcia, Greystone Theological Institute)

Saturday, May 26th:
9:00-10:30AM: Cross-examination and Panel discussion (Craig Carter, Mark Garcia, and local scholar-pastor)
10:30-11:30AM: General Q&A
