After Hours: Secrets from the "Ship Shaping" Project w/ Mark Fitzgerald
Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (PST)
Mark Fitzgerald’s Ship Shaping series has received attention from both the maritime and fine art photography worlds. An industrial corporation purchased every print in his recent show at Camerawork Gallery, the oldest photo gallery in the U.S., before the show even opened. At the January After Hours meeting Mark will tell the behind-the-scenes story on how the project went from concept to reality and what it was like to photograph at three of the Pacific Northwest’s shipyards. He will discuss the Ship Shaping project from start-to-finish, including image selection, editing, printing and hanging the show, and creating a coffee table book. If you’ve ever thought about creating a fine art series for a gallery show, you’ll want to check this program out.
