The Conservatory of Flowers Presents
SonicSF’s Joyride!: Stones Thrown in Glass Houses
A Victorian Evening of Interactive Storytelling, Warning Tales & Fables
Told LIVE, in a Glass House
You are cordially invited to a night of storytelling and extraordinary happenings!
JOYRIDE, San Francisco’s newest live storytelling adventure, is taking over the Orchid Pavilion at the Conservatory of Flowers. The theme of the moonlit night is storytelling itself and the tradition of warning young children and adults alike through the sharing of proverbs and fairy tales. From Aesop to Confucius,Shakespeare to Silverstein, stories threaded with morality have helped shape the human experience. Each gripping tale of personal experience told this florid evening will mirror a proverb or a warning tale, reminding us that they who burn witches love their coals, and that those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
A special treat awaits guests at intermission when artists Mark Taylor and Thad Povey play the "Octoplayer," an eight-armed copper and plexiglass sculpture that plays music, sings songs and tells stories.
Come early and enjoy rousing libations from Stone Brewing as you stroll amidst the lush greenery of the Conservatory’s tropical galleries to the tunes of DJ YEKENO. Enjoy provisions from Guatemalan cuisine food truck, Sabor De San Miguel, and snap souvenir selfies at our victorian fable vignette as harpist Garyan Wong sets the mood for a night of storied enchantment and thrilling tales.
Show starts at 8pm!
Tickets to Stones Thrown in Glass Houses are limited and will sell quickly. For those who miss the opportunity to purchase storytelling tickets, greenhouse-only tickets will become available after sales close for Stones Thrown in Glass Houses. Greenhouse-only tickets will include full access to the Conservatory and our signature cocktail bars.
