Event description
AfroHella : Tech + Entrepreneurship + Social Impact

About this Event

Join us for Afrohella, a groundbreaking night of events celebrating creators, disruptors and innovators from underrepresented communities. We believe that the information age has opened new doors for those who seek to create and innovate. Instead of asking for a seat at the table, join us on August 31st for candid discussions with 20+ changemakers who created their own table. We believe in the power of ownership, collaboration and technology. We believe that innovation begins when we stop looking up and start to collaborate by looking across.

** Proceeds going towards non profits Hip Hop For Change (Oakland) and Horizons SF (San Francisco).

Panels

For the Culture - Entertainment, Tech, Social Media and the New Consumer

With the convergence of the information age, social media and the increased appreciation for cultural movements based in Hip Hop and POC communities, the landscape of media and entertainment has become more tech focused and more accessible than ever before. We will focus on how our panelists built their brands and maximized cultural movements. We will also discuss how technology has changed consumer behavior, branding and business opportunities in the entertainment sector.

Prison Reform and Design Thinking for the Future

While tech innovation and cultural social justice movements are at an all time high, many of our traditional social systems such as the prison system, affordable housing policies, equitable systems for individuals with disabilities, and many more remain fundamentally broken. Join our panelists as we explore the most innovative and scalable solutions to redesign these systems which often disproportionally affect underrepresented groups.
