Description

Presented as part of Fehinty African Theatre Ensemble's Diaspora Monologues, EWA Fitness’ Afro-Cardio workshop will explore a combination of traditional African dance like the Nigerian Bata and Congolese Makolongulu dance, and new popular dance moves derived from Afrobeat songs. In addition to learning African dance moves that burn calories and tone the muscles, participants will enjoy Afrobeats songs from different parts of Africa and song genres such as Soukouss and hip-hop. Each session is concluded by stretching and positive meditation to African instrumental song with a warm and calming effect.

*Note: The class on February 1 will be held at Arts Incubator, 301 E Garfield Boulevard, Chicago, IL 60637, just a few feet from Green Line Performing Arts Center.

EWA FITNESS is a fitness company that promotes healthy lifestyle through African dance exercise, nutrition coaching, and building a positive mindset about body image.
