Up to date Agenda: http://www.afrikoin.org/agenda

Themes being addressed

Most Startups or merchants  in Africa that need to take electronic payments or deal with virtual currencies face numerous challenges:

  • What are the key gaps and broad opportunities in the digital money space as Africa becomes more connected and the digital commerce landscape grows.
  • As a merchant, how does one select a payment aggregator or processor in a fragmented environment of digital money options (mobile money, credit card etc…)

  • What technical “backend” considerations do startups need to be aware of (fraud prevention, settlement, cross border trade)

  • How should regulators view emerging innovations (mobile money and Bitcoin) from a "Know Your Customer/Anti-Money Laundering (KYC/AML)"  point of view as well as from a tax policy- we hope to bring on Government Officials to the conference.

Digital Money User Preference and Behavior Study

  • Finally with the tremendous change in digital money across Africa, what are the consumer preferences and habits in e-commerce to money transfer/remittance and hence where should innovators and merchants invest their efforts to capitalize on African consumer growing spending online.
  • iHub research, together with Savannah Fund will be presenting a study at the conference  starting with the Kenyan consumer and hopes to expand this across Africa over time.
