Description

African Drumming Experience

Come and experience authentic African storytelling and folk music making. Taught by a rebound African drum instructor.

Kwame Ansah-Brew is a college professor, percussionist, actor, saxophonist, bandleader, director, dancer and instructor. He has touched the hearts of many by sharing traditional music, dance, and storytelling of Ghana, as well as contemporary jazz fusion music with gospel-infused afro-beats.
Kwame has appeared as a performer at Virginia’s Wolf Trap Institute and as a Resident Artist at the Smithsonian Institution, as a music instructor for the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia, and as a musical storyteller at suburban elementary schools throughout metro Washington area.

The experience includes;

  • An introduction to African Drums

  • When and which African occasion are drums used

  • A lesson on drumming, drum circle
