African American History Month Celebration of Black Patriotism and Heroism
Event Information
About this Event
The missing pages of American History is the extraordinary saga of African-Americans in the making of America to include science, technology, culture and the development of Democracy. The missing pages of African American History is the patriotism, heroism and sacrifice of African American Warriors in protecting and defending the American Way.
Since 1986, NABVETS has provided a window, albeit limited, to the trials, tribulations and accomplishments of African Americans in Defense of America. African American Patriots Day was declared and established 35 years ago and in 2001, the Annual Buffalo Soldiers Memorial Banquet became the premier event to document, highlight and recognize the exceptional presence of Black Soldiers.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19, this year we had to reimagine our celebration so we could continue this yearly tradition. Therefore, we are happy to present this year's VIRTUAL African American History Month Celebration where we will be highlighting Black Patriotism and Heroism.
The presentation will include recognition of key leaders who have served the cause of freedom through their mission and work. There will be musical presentations and tributes from distinguished honorary guests.
To show our gratitude, each person who registers will receive a copy of the acclaimed book "FORGOTTEN" by renowned author Linda Hervieux: www.lindahervieux.com.
Overview of the Book:
In telling the story of the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion, Linda Hervieux offers a vivid account of the tension between racial politics and national service in wartime America, and a moving narrative of human bravery and perseverance in the face of injustice.
PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRANTS WILL RECEIVE LINK TO VIEW THE CELEBRATION ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT.
