Learn ways to create a calm, safe and supportive environment for you and people with dementia in your care.

- Learn the difference between violence and aggression and how to keep yourself and others safe.

- Practice supportive communication and nonverbal approaches that help de-escalate challenging situations.

- Begin to develop a sensitivity to the environment, situational context, relationships and culture when it comes to de-escalation.

- Learn new ways to identify behaviors as an unmet need.

- Better understand the cycle of escalation and ways you can diffuse a situation to keep yourself and others calm and safe.
