Join us for this informative Town Hall discussing the new healthcare law – the Affordable Care Act – and what it means for California small businesses. We will focus on the key federal and state provisions impacting small businesses and what new health insurance options are now available. Topics Include:

  • Covered California – a one-stop shop online health insurance marketplace where small businesses and the self-employed can shop for health coverage for their needs and budget
  • Small business tax credits (available to businesses and non-profits) – who is eligible for them and how to claim them
  • New consumer protections
  • How the law contains health insurance costs
  • Employer and individual shared responsibility
  • Tools and resources available for small businesses

Santa Monica College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration, Los Angeles District Office offers free, confidential one-on-one business consulting, as well as low-cost workshops, to support new entrepreneurs and current business owners in all aspects of successfully running a small business.  SBDC’s consultants have education and expertise in a diversity of areas, including but not limited to:  Financing, Marketing, Business Operations and Management, Business Planning and more to help your business grow.

The SBDC is funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration, and also funded in part by state, local, and private sector partners. The Small Business Administration and Resource Partners (such as SBDC, WBC and SCORE) offer a variety of free classes for business owners in its conference room, located at 330 N. Brand Blvd., Suite 1200, Glendale, CA 91203.

The SBA & Resource Partner training workshops are made possible by the generous support of volunteer teachers and presenters.
