AFCEA Belvoir Hackathon 2022

On December 15th and 16th 2022, students from six Virginia Elementary Schools will participate in our 2nd annual educational Hackathon event, themed “Engineer the Planet”. This virtual hackathon/STEAM event will be facilitated for up to 400 5th grade students at Fort Belvoir Elementary School, Crossroads Elementary School (Quantico) and Rockbridge County Elementary Schools. “Engineer the Planet” will consist of a series of integrated basic coding challenges built around a storyline of elementary-age school students stepping in to assist the fictional BASA (Belvoir AFCEA Space Alliance) who are conducting a basecamp building mission to Planet X. The students will participate in a series of eight challenges with the ultimate goal of “engineering” conditions suitable for a human basecamp to thrive on Planet X.
