Thea Anderson presents Bitter Herbs and 7 Spirits: the Legacy of Divination in Black America

About this event

BITTER HERBS & 7 SPIRITS: THE LEGACY OF DIVINATION IN BLACK AMERICA

Thea Anderson presents an AFAN Community Workshop that will explore how magical and divinatory practices such as conjuration, seals, and astrological timing helped Black people subvert oppression and cruelty in America. The workshop will specifically look into the event charts belonging to Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas and other titans, as well as textual references in the Sixth and Seventh Books of Moses that will help to shed light on the oral traditions and wisdom that took root via the African Diaspora.

SPEAKER BIO

Thea Anderson is a writer and astrologer, and works as Director of Production at CHANI. She is currently writing her first novel and is also the assistant editor at Triangle House Review. She is a student of Sam Reynolds, Austin Coppock, and has also studied with Nina Gryphon and others. As a Black woman, it is important for her to view astrology outside of the framework of white supremacy and perhaps some healing can come of that.

Hosted by AFAN - The Association for Astrological Networking. This is a FREE event!
