Description

Join the Midwest Cyber Center at McKendree University for a week long FREE CyberCamp June 25-29 from 9am - 12pm. This camp is open to all Middle School and High School students (students going into 6th - 12th grade for the upcoming school year). Students can register just themselves and/or have their friends register and participate with them during the camp. This camp is open to all public, private, JROTC, and homeschool students.

Students will be able to explore cybersecurity career opportunities, cyber ethics, online safety, how computers work, and cyber threats. They will have the opportunity to learn these skills through fun, hands-on, interactive activities. The last day of the camp will give the students the opportunity to test what they've learned through a fun mini competition!

Students will only need to bring themselves to the camp. Computers, materials, and snacks will be provided.

Exact building and room information will be updated closer to the camp as well as emailed out to everyone who has registered.

For additional questions about the camp, email us at info@midwestcybercenter.org.

AFA CYBERCAMPS

AFA CyberCamps emphasize fun, hands-on learning of cybersecurity principles that are relevant and applicable to everyday life. At CyberCamp, students learn the importance of cyber safety and how to protect their personal devices and information from outside threats.

THE NATIONAL YOUTH CYBER DEFENSE COMPETITION

At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition (October - April) puts teams of high school and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. In the rounds of competition, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services. Teams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Baltimore, MD for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.
