Event description

Combat & Classics (a St. John's College Program) is pleased to present a guided discussion on Aeschylus' "The Persians".

"While o'er the fields of Greece the embattled troops
Of Persia march with delegated sway,
We o'er their rich and gold-abounding seats
Hold faithful our firm guard;"

This event is free for active duty and veteran US military.

1) Please read the seminar selection thoroughly and at least once prior to attending. Many free versions are available online. Editions with line and/or paragraph numbers are very helpful.

Suggested translations/copies:

a. Paperback (with line numbers) here.

b. Free Kindle version here.

c. Free online version here.

2) What you can expect during the online discussion:

  • Expect to participate.
  • Our tutors are here to help you learn, not tell you what to learn.
  • Most of the discussion is simply posing deeper questions about the text, and just the text.

3) You'll receive tech instructions on how to join the call once you register - it's easy.

4) If you have any questions, or are hesitant at all and need a reassuring "You can do it motivator," email
