Offshore Wind, The Virginia Advantage

He will provide a brief overview of Offshore Wind to provide a basic understanding of this technology. Paul will then cover the topic as it pertains to Project Development, Supply Chain Management, Work Force Development, Innovation and Research, Energy Production and Legislation & Outreach. At the conclusion of his talk, Paul address questions and provide the audience with the opportunity to have their firm sign up for the Offshore Wind Partnership Tool to ensure that Virginia Companies remain competitive with future Offshore Wind Opportunities.

Dominion Energy And Electric Bus Rollout

Kate Staples is Manager, Electrification for Dominion Energy Virginia. Previously, she developed and implemented renewable and demand side management programs for Dominion Energy’s residential and non-residential customers. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business from Virginia Tech and her MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Six Sigma Green Belt and received her Certified Energy Manager certification in 2014.

Dominion Energy Virginia is launching a nationally-leading program to support Virginia school districts’ transition of their school bus fleet from diesel to electric, which will improve air quality and the health of children in our communities. We’re also exploring battery storage capabilities, and the batteries on the school buses will enable us to continue to study their use while enhancing reliability on our electric grid. The first 16 localities have been selected to help kick off the program by purchasing electric buses at the same price as diesel. 50 buses will roll out this year and, with legislative approval, we hope to enable an additional 1,500 to be added over the next 5 years.
