Description

Economic Diversity on the Eastside: Revealing the Growing Necessity for Human Services

The relative wealth of the eastside often makes those in need invisible, and organizations serving those in need often struggle to make the case for increased funding despite increased demand for services. Take a look at demographic trends on income, housing affordability and opportunity illustrating the necessity of human services on the eastside with Gwen Rousseau, Demographer for the City of Bellevue.

Speaker Gwen Rousseau, demographer with the City of Bellevue

For the past nine years, Gwen has served as associate planner and demographer for the City of Bellevue. For over 15 years, she has helped communities visualize data and analyze trends to help them make informed decisions regarding strategic planning and community outreach. She is currently working to enhance Bellevue’s Open Data Portal and creating online maps illustrating demographic characteristics by census tract for the Puget Sound region. Gwen holds a Masters of Urban Planning degree from the University of Washington and a B.S. in Environmental Science from Western Washington University.
