This training is the second in the  Advocating for Youth in School training series from Advocates for Children of New York. Advocaing for Youth in School: Special Education 101 and IEPs provides an overview of Special Education laws and the rights of parents. The training goes over the entire special education process from referral for special education services through the creation of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Participants will learn how to read IEPs by reviewing sections of sample IEPs. Participants will strengthen their ability to advocate for parents and students when the parent disagrees with the student's school on special education matters.

Please note that the training session begins at 10:00am  In order to participate in this session, it is important to arrive on time.  Anyone arriving after 10:15am will not be allowed to join the training.
