I, Dr. Helen Ofosu, of I/O Advisory Services will share practical information, based on my background in Industrial / Organizational psychology (which is also known as business or work psychology) that will help employers make better hiring decisions.

After setting the context with a case study to highlight the financial and operational costs of a bad hire I'll cover the following three areas:

1. Measuring relevant work-related behaviours rather than relying solely on what a candidate says during an interview
2. How to avoid typical interviewing mistakes (In “psychology speak” these are assessment biases)
3. Verification by structured reference check and other means
