Training Description

The SECC leadership Convention at Pine Springs Ranch is held annually on the 3rd weekend in September; September 15-17, 2017. The program is designed to inspire and train those that work with Adventurers.

Training is for Adults Only

This convention is for directors, staff and parents wishing to learn more about the Adventurer program. It is an SECC sponsored training course and not a family retreat. But in the event you need to bring your child(ren), a Day Camp experience will be provided for ages 4-12 years for a fee of $30/child. This fee does not include lodging and meals.

If you have children under age 4, you will be responsible for attending to them. Children will have their own activities and are not permitted to attend the adult workshops. If a parent needs to attend to their child’s needs, please do so outside of the class so others will not be disrupted. Space is limited, early registration is recommended.


Churches may pay for the leadership convention for director and other staff. Some clubs earn money during the year to pay all or part of the fees. Talk with your pastor or local church leader about these arrangements. Prices are listed on the registration website and are subject to change. You have the option of paying by credit card, church check or invoicing the church. Simply select the ‘Details’ button. Then on the registration page select the payment method with the down arrow in the payment section. The church will be invoiced if payment is not received by the event date.


The club director or secretary must submit the online registration form at www.seccyouth.com under the ‘Event’ tab fifteen (15) days before the convention. Registration deadline is Thursday, August 31. If space permits, any resitrations accepted after the deadline will be charged an additional fee of $20 per person. Any changes made after the deadline will incur a $5 fee. A $35 cancellation fee will apply if cancellations occurs after the deadline. Same gender substitutions are alllowed up to 7 days before the event.

Pine Springs Ranch offeers different accomodations: lodge, cabin, RV or tent camping. When staying in the lodge, meals are included and linens and towels are provided. For cabins, meals are included, but you will need to bring your own linens, i.e., sleeping bag, pillow, towel, etc. For RVs and tent camping, you can either prepare your own meals or puchase meals. When registering your attendees, we need to know their rooming assignment - who is staying in the same room or cabin. You will be contacted if any adjustments need to be made to your reservation. Registration OnSite

Onsite registration is located in the lodge lobby. Check in at the SECC registration table to confirm presence and pick up all convention material. Then proceed to the Pine Springs Ranch front desk for your room/cabin keys and wrist band.

What to Wear

For Sabbath worship, it is requested that attendees, if that have it, wear their Class-A (dress)uniform or whatever you would wear when your club is in church. The rest of the meetings are casual wear and Adventurer T-shirts are appropriate.


The convention is held at Pine Springs Ranch which is nestled in the San Jacinto Mountains east of Hemet.

From Riverside

North on Freeway #91. East on Van Buren to Freeway #215. South on #215 to Ramona Expressway. East on Ramona Expressway until it ends at Florida Avenue (Highway #74). Turn left and follow Hwy. #74 up the mountain to Mountain Center. At junction, stay to the right on Hwy. #74 for approximately 3 1/2 miles. Turn left onto Apple Canyon Road (look for the large green sign). Pine Springs Ranch is at the end of Apple Canyon Road, three miles from Hwy. #74.

From San Diego

Freeway 15 North to Highway 79 South (at Temecula). Follow Highway 79 to junction with Highway 371 and turn left. Stay on Highway 371 through Anza to Highway 74 and turn left. Follow Highway 74 to Apple Canyon Road (which is just past Lake Hemet) and turn right. Pine Springs Ranch is at the end of Apple Canyon Road, three (3) miles off Highway 74.

From Los Angeles/Ontario

Take Freeway 10 East to Highway 79 exit. Follow Highway 79 South (towards Hemet) to Ramona Expressway and turn left. Follow Ramona Expressway until it ends at Florida Avenue (Hwy. 74). Turn left and follow Highway 74 up the mountain to Mountain Center. At the junction, stay to the RIGHT on Highway 74 for approximately three (3) miles. Turn LEFT onto Apple Canyon Road (large green road sign). Pine Springs Ranch is at the end of Apple Canyon Road, three (3) miles from Highway 74.

From Palm Springs/Palm Desert

(Desert Communities) From Palm Springs follow Hwy. #111 South to Hwy. #74. From East of Desert Communities, take Freeway #10 West to Monterey Exit. Stay on Monterey until it becomes Hwy. #74 (West). Follow Hwy. #74 up the mountain (appx. 25 miles) and continue just past Lake Hemet to Apple Canyon Road. Turn Right on Apple Canyon Road. Pine Springs ranch is at the end of Apple Canyon Road, three miles from Hwy. #74.
