About this Event
Join us as we launch an Advent sermon series titled, No Vacancy.
During Advent, it is easy to go into survival mode – to get wrapped up in decorating for Christmas, finding/buying/giving the perfect gifts, decorating the cookies, and doing everything we’re “supposed” to do. But if this is all we do, we will miss the point of Christmas: we will miss the critical “part” of the season: the truth that a Savior has been born unto us--that God loved us so much that He became one of us. This truth is something that we have to return to year after year and day after day...or it will pass us by.
During this season, we will apply the reality of the overcrowding of Bethlehem’s inns to the overcrowding of our own lives. Using this metaphor, we will explore and untangle the biggest barriers to experiencing and celebrating a truly Christ-centered Christmas.

COVID-19 SAFETY
We believe that physical health and safety is an essential element of worship, and we are taking the following precautions to ensure just that:
**To limit our time indoors, we will open the doors at 10:45AM. If you arrive earlier, you are welcome to wait in your vehicle or stand outside of the church building as long as you practice proper social distancing**
1. You will be greeted by friendly volunteers in the parking lot and building entrance. Every volunteer will be wearing a mask and will ensure that all doorways are opened for you to minimize touching surfaces. Hand sanitizer stations will be located at every exterior and interior entrance.
2. Due to the latest city requirements, all who attend worship will be required to wear a face covering. If you do not have one, Good News will have them available.
3. We will use a no-touch thermometer to take your temperature before entering the building. If you have a temperature of 100 or higher, we ask that you worship with us online from home.
4. To limit interaction and surfaces touched, we will not be serving coffee or refreshments at this time.
5. A volunteer will greet you at the Welcome Desk to gather your registration information and answer any questions you might have.
6. We will have childcare available (0-3 years), but you are welcome to bring your kiddos to worship in the sanctuary!
7. An usher will escort you and your group into the sanctuary and to your seats. For your safety, rows will be 6 feet apart to allow for social distancing.
8. We will not collect an offering during worship. However, you can visit our website goodnewsumc.org to give online!
9. Restrooms will be sanitized before and after the service and a limited number of people may enter at a time.
10. We will sanitize the building before and after services.
Ask yourself these home screening questions prior to visiting campus on Sundays. Please stay home and join us for online worship if you don’t feel well or answer yes to ANY of the following:
-Have you checked your temperature and it is above 100 degrees?
-Do you have any of the following symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, or sore throat)?
-Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19 and not yet been fever and symptom free (without the aid of fever reducing or other medication) for at least 3 days?
-Have you had any close contact with someone who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19?
If you have any questions, you can reach out to Jessica Watson, jwatson@goodnewsumc.org
