Event description

Description

You are invited to the 8th annual perinatal depression conference. This conference is sponsored by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health Healthy Start Program, Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare and Drexel Maternal and Child Programs. Input for this conference was also provided by the Philadelphia Community Action Network’s Integrated Care work group.

This year’s conference, Advancing the Village: Addressing Disparities and Connecting the Dots in Maternal Mental Health, will examine how pregnant women and new mothers experience depression, how systemic racism effects perinatal mental health, and the experience of receiving behavioral health care as a pregnant woman or new mother of color. Our goal is to concentrate on the inherent strengths of individuals, families, groups and organizations in order to promote asset-based advocacy and healing for patients in healthcare settings. By connecting the many “dots” that impact maternal mental health experiences we hope to aid in recovery and well being in the community.
