Advancing Healthy Communities Workshop (Chicago)
Event Information
Description
The Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-IL) is working to integrate health into planning for the built environment. Two, half-day workshops (one in Chicago, one in Bloomington) are being offered to advance this work at the community level by identifying barriers, connecting potential partners and providing technical assistance.
Who should attend: Anyone working on community-based strategies for improving health (including physical activity and active transportation, open space initiatives, food access and healthy food, zoning and land use). The workshop is designed for planners, architects, engineers, public health practitioners, health care providers, elected officials, village/city managers, community organization representatives, and advocates who are ready to start or advance planning for health in their community. Participants can expect to leave with a "next steps" plan of action tailored to your community or project’s specific needs.
To encourage partnerships and collaboration, bring one partner from another department or organization in your community for FREE! (you must register together)
Fee waivers will be considered for public agencies and non-profit organizations on a case-by-case basis
