Advancing Advocacy for Youth with Mental Health Needs
Event Information
Description
Young Minds Advocacy Project is proud to announce our upcoming 3rd Anniversary Celebration: Advancing Advocacy for Youth with Mental Health Needs. This fun evening event is focused on getting our community informed and talking about youth mental health. We sincerely hope that you will accept our invitation to attend this event and enjoy an evening of food, entertainment, silent auction, raffle, and prizes!
17.1 million young people have or will have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder--that's more than the number of young people who have cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined. And yet, many youth experiencing a mental health challenge feel like they have no one to talk to, no one who undertsands them, and nowhere to turn to get help. In fact, only 20% of youth in need of services and supports will receive them.
But it doesn't have to be this way! Join us to dicuss ways that together we can make a difference in the lives of youth in our community by ending stigma towards mental illness, supporting youth wellness and resilency, and reforming the mental heatlh system to better support youth and families.
The event will take place on September 18th, 2015 from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm at the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center (Elm Room) in Menlo Park, California. The ticket price is a suggested donation of $25 per person. For those who are willing and able to donate more, please visit our website to learn about our donor levels and corresponding incentives.
Your support is critical to Young Minds Advocacy’s success! The funds raised at the event will support Young Minds' advocacy efforts on behalf of youth in families in our community and throughout California. Last year’s event garnered almost $10,000 to benefit our youth mental wellness advocacy efforts. We hope with your support this year's event will be an even greater success!
