2020 AdvanceKentucky Laying the Foundation® Summer Institute

provided through a partnership between

AdvanceKentucky and the National Math and Science Initiative

Tuesday, July 14, 2020 to Friday, July 17, 2020

8:30 am – 4:00 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday

8:30 am – 3:00 pm Friday


LTF Online Access

Two weeks prior to training, registered participants will receive their NMSI username and password. Login credentials will be sent to the email address provided during registration. Please check junk or spam folders for an email from WebSupport@nms.org. For timely access to all training materials, participants must verify this information prior to the first day of training and are encouraged to preview the website and accessible resources. Note: participants will gain full access to all resources after the first full day of training.


Schools requesting payment upon invoice are required to enter a PO number during registration. Invoices will be sent to district finance offices once training has concluded. If an invoice is needed earlier, please contact jsanford@kstc.com. Credit card payments are also accepted during on-line registration.


All cancellations must be received by the dates below to receive full or partial credit for registration fees:

  • May 30 (Forty-five days prior to first day of training) for 100% credit
  • June 14 (Thirty days prior to first day of training) for 50% credit
  • To submit a cancellation, please contact ltf@kstc.com for more information.


Districts have the option to provide a substitute for a registered participant who is unable to attend. Please contact ltf@kstc.com for more information.


Mileage, lodging, and meals are the responsibility of each school. Teachers in active AdvanceKentucky high schools and Access to Algebra middle schools may check with their Administrator for details. A discounted group rate of $125 per night plus tax has been arranged with the Hyatt Place Lexington. To make a reservation by phone, please call 859-296-0091 and request the AdvanceKY LTF Training block. Online reservations may be made here using G-AKLT as the group/corporate number. Reservations must be made by Friday, June 19th.



Continental breakfast, lunch and snacks during breaks will be provided.


In addition to all training materials, participants will have online access to the complete catalog of LTF lessons and resources.


Teachers attending partial days will be assessed full registration fees. Trainers document attendance and district contacts will be notified of any participants absent from the first day of training. Attendance reports will be submitted to each district once training has concluded.

Specific Host Site Policies

  • Children are not allowed at the training due to liability issues.
  • Smoking is not permitted on school grounds.
  • Participants are asked to park in the lot located to the right of the school. Avoid parking on the grass or in handicapped spaces unless tag is displayed.


Access to Resources

After the first full day of training, participants will have online access to all materials and additional resources. After completing one year of LTF, online resources are available for three full years.

PD Credit

Attendance certificates will be provided once training has concluded. Please check with local administrators about possible PD credit. EILA credit is available (upon request) for administrators attending LTF.

Vertical Teaming

Our content staff is available to assist AdvanceKentucky program schools with vertical team meetings and to help connect LTF lessons with AP course work. Please direct all inquiries to ltf@kstc.com.
