Are you a young woman and/or non-binary filmmaker that wants to combat gender inequities in the filmmaking industry? Have you participated in Reel Stories programs in the past? Do you have media-making ideas but need some support in turning your vision into reality? Are you interested in working with professional filmmakers and peers to bring a story to life? Join our advanced filmmaking cohort/production team to sharpen your filmmaking skills and receive mentorship via weekly Zoom meet-ups!

Learn and build the power behind networked communities in a time when you might feel isolated and uncertain about the future. We are at a pivotal point in our collective history, be part of the change towards a more equitable world so that we can continue to elevate voices of those who are often misrepresented and underrepresented in the media!

Programs Offered:

Advanced Youth Cohort: ages 12 - 18 y.o. In this program, filmmakers will have the opportunity to develop a script, produce and edit a film of their choice. Filmmakers can work independently or with a team, and will receive wraparound support throughout the filmmaking process.

Emerging Adults, The Institute: College students ,18+ - For our emerging adult female and non-binary filmmakers, we offer an opportunity for you to work on a film project as a group. Together you will brainstorm ideas for a film and decide which direction to take your creation. Over the course of 10 weeks, with consistent guidance by a trained filmmaking professional, you will work towards producing, editing and premiering your film. We ask that you have previous filmmaking experience and/or have attended a Reel Stories program in the past. This class will take place simultaneously as the Advanced Youth Cohort and the groups will be separated into their own breakout rooms on Zoom.

Advanced Cohort Media Teacher(s):

Yasaman Ford: Filmmaker, animator, scriptwriter, producer & director. Graduate from the Film and Television program at UCLA.

**This is a reoccurring event happening every Wednesday at 4 p.m. PST for 10 consecutive weeks. To get the most out of the program we ask that you can commit to the full 10 weeks.**
