Event description

Advanced Physician Wellness (APW)
October 4th, 5th & 6th 2019

Too busy to rest and renew is a common mindset that gives a false impression of higher productivity. Without intervals of renewal, mistakes increase, productivity declines and personal wellness suffers.

Mind-body renewal improves efficiency and provides reserves to draw upon when a crisis must be handled.

Sustaining any practice requires tools that are easily mastered, provide high-yield results and take minimal time. The tools taught on the APW conference have shown to bring immediate and significant results.

Research examining multiple biomarkers of stress indicates the combination of SKY Breathing Meditation and Effortless Deep Meditation creates rapid movement toward autonomic homeostasis and a physiologic shift in the autonomic nervous system promoting parasympathetic arousal within the first two sessions.

Join us for this important event to learn the best mind-body practices for wellness.

The APW program targets all 4 drivers of resiliency:

  • Energy renewal
  • Self-compassion
  • Self-awareness
  • Emotion regulation

The core of the training combines the unique SKY breathwork practice and Effortless Deep Meditation technique. SKY breathwork is an advanced meditative tool that is entirely breath-driven, allowing the mind to rest deeply without applying any mental focus. EDM is an automatic self-transcending method to meditation which is also effortless. These two practices have been sourced from traditional, ancient meditation systems because of their time-tested effectiveness, fast-acting results and the ability to master them quickly.

The training includes:

  • SKY breathwork practice
  • Effortless Deep Meditation technique (EDM)
  • Evidence-based mind management principles used in positive psychology.
  • Mindfulness-based principles for greater awareness and stress management.
  • Techniques to combat sleep difficulties.
  • Narrative medicine.
  • Belongingness exercises to develop stronger peer support.
  • Short form yoga postures.

1. Evaluate the differences in methods, goals and results of mindfulness practices, yoga-based breathing meditation techniques, SKY Breathing Meditation and effortless deep meditation practices.

2. Describe the natural connection that exists between the breath and the mind and how certain breathing techniques can quickly and significantly reduce anxiety and stressful reactions better than other methods of relaxation or other coping strategies.

3. Perform, without guidance, a specific set of breathing and meditation techniques that deeply rest and renew the mind and body and reduce anxiety and emotional stress, thereby improving performance and patient care.

4. Apply mindfulness to identify common reactive patterns driven by negative bias and apply self-reflective reframing of these patterns to more positive responses resulting in improved patient interaction, team relationships and professionalism.

5. Recognize the importance of self-care to avoid the common and serious problem of physician burnout by maintaining personal resiliency through the regular use of mind-body practices.
