Event description
A week long field experience using marine research techniques for teachers in the warm near shore environment of the Upper Florida Keys!

About this Event

Join MarineLab's biologist/instructors in an exploration of the marine communities in the Upper Keys. Days are spent aboard our boats, snorkeling the seagrasses, mangroves, and coral reefs protected by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Everglades National Park and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. All workshops are content oriented and are designed for the middle and high school science teacher. Recharge your batteries and get excited about using marine science in YOUR curriculum!

This program takes our Coastal Marine Ecology program a step further. Various field research methods and techniques are taught and practiced during the snorkeling field trips. The Advanced Water Quality Lab and Diversity Indexing Lab, coral reef ecology with Bleachwatch, seagrass ecology with surveys, mangrove ecology with soil analysis, and REEF Fish Surveys are all part of this advanced program.
