Description

The Charles County Child Advocacy Center—Center for Children will be offering a three day advanced forensic interviewing training. We are welcoming anyone who is looking for additional training in forensic interviewing of children who have one year of forensic interview experience and have had first course of any national model.
Training Limited space is available and will be on a first come, first served basis. No refunds after January 15th.

Training Topics Include:


  • Overview of current research, issues and controversies as it relates to best practices
  • Benefits and practicalities of conducting more than one interview
  • Developing active listening skills and asking appropriate follow-up questions
  • Interviewing children with disabilities
  • Understanding how to use age-appropriate language to maximize the information gained
  • Trauma, memory, and the forensic interview
  • Needs of the MDT: Eliciting details, exploring corroboration, and building charges

The trainer is Andra Chamberlin, MA - a trainer and child forensic interview specialist for the National Children's Advocacy Center, where she specializes in teaching participants how to conduct developmentally-appropriate, legally-sound interviews with children which maximizes the quanity and quality of forenscially relevant information regarding alleged incidents of maltreatment. Andra has worked in the child abuse field since 1989 and began conducting forensic interviews in 1996, and has testified as an expert witness in criminal court.
