Event description

Description

Our Advanced Wedding Series includes step-by- step instruction of five wedding-specific design skills including: hand-wiring individual flowers for boutonnieres and head wreaths, large scale designs for ceremony decor; elevated centerpiece designs for the reception and the decoration of a Chuppah and flowering arch. Students walk away with a great understanding of the most important wedding mechanics and designs!

Classic Compote Design (Day One: 10:30am – 12:30pm)

This class will focus on using chicken wire to help build a grid for compote vessels. Rather than replicating a recipe as in earlier classes, students will now have to develop their own palette and style based on the class lecture. The instructor will coach each student to insure that they are successful.

Large Scale Modern Design (Day One: 1:30pm – 4:00pm)

This class will focus on building a tape and grid system for large-scale designs suitable for commercial contracts. Instruction will focus on flower selection for maximum longevity and inspiring students to create, innovative, modern designs.

Creating Organic Containers (Day Two: 10:30am – 12:30pm)

This class will focus on creating organic containers and how to create cohesive and structurally sound floral compositions. Rather than replicating a recipe as in earlier classes, students will now have to develop their own palette and style based on the class lecture. The instructor will coach each student to insure that they are successful.

Contemporary Asymmetrical Design (Day Two: 1:30pm – 4:00pm)

Over the last ten years a new standard of design has become prominent and celebrated throughout the floral design community, and is best demonstrated by designers like Tin Can Studios, Sullivan Owen and Summer Robins Design. With origins in Brooklyn, California and Texas, this contemporary aesthetic and style will feature contemporary qualities like asymmetry with an emphasis on foliage. In this class, and building upon the techniques learned in Class 10, students will create a contemporary, asymmetrical design that is engaging and representative of today’s most exciting trends.

Please note, our advanced classes presuppose knowledge of certain techniques such as proper flower processing, basic arranging and familiarity with the florist’s knife, as gained through FSLA’s Intensive Series. Students must register 24 hours or more before scheduled program. Please call or email us to discuss your experience level if you are unsure this course is a good fit for you.
