Description

Just as CPR training helps a person with no clinical training assist an individual following a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid training helps a person assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis such as contemplating suicide.

Mental Health First Aid is a nationally renowned program that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to early signs of mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and mental health crisis.

Training Highlights:

  • The evidence behind the program demonstrates that it builds mental health literacy and helping the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness.
  • Mental Health First Aiders learn a single 5-step strategy that includes assessing risk, respectfully listening to and supporting the individual in crisis, and identifying appropriate professional help and other supports.
  • Interactive activities that teach participants how to intervene when a person is going through a mental health crisis
  • Stigma reduction around mental health, through mental health education
  • Identification of community resources to promote healing
  • Topics covered - Depression and Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Trauma, Pschosis, Substance Use Disorders, and more...
