Description

Please note this training will take place over two days: Tuesday, July 23, 2019 AND Wednesday, July 24, 2019. Each days class will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. You must attend both days to recieve credit.

Description:

Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care.

WHAT IT COVERS • Common signs and symptoms of mental illness. • Common signs and symptoms of substance use. • How to interact with a person in crisis. • How to connect the person with help.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Please arrive on-time and dressed in preparation for temperature fluctuations that may occur in the training room. There will be two fifteen minute breaks offered during the day along with a half hour for lunch. Lunch will not be provided. Please feel free to bring any food items you may require during the training.

CERTIFICATIONS & CONTINUING EDUCATION:

Participants that complete the full 8 hours of Mental Health First Aid training will secure a three-year certification.

Montgomery County ADAMHS has been approved by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board to offer continuing education credit hours. Counselors and Social Workers can receive 8 hours of continuing education for completing the full 8 hours of YOUTH Mental Health First Aid. (Provider #RCS111304)

Montgomery County ADAMHS has been approved by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board to offer continuing education credit hours. Chemical Dependency Counselors and Preventionists can receive 8 hours of continuing education for completing the full 8 hours of YOUTH Mental Health First Aid. For Chemical Dependency Professionals, the training meets the following Subject Content Area Classifications: C1 (1 hrs.); C2 (2.5 hrs.); C4 (2.5 hrs.); C6 (0.5 hrs.) and C7 (1.5 hrs.). For Prevention Professionals, P2 (4HR) &P6 (4HR). (Provider #50-17863)
