About this event

An estimated 40 million Americans are coping with some form of anxiety, and 70% of Americans say the coronavirus outbreak is a source of stress in their lives. This internationally-recognized virtual course will teach you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This training is designed to teach how to help another adult who may be experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge.

The course introduces common mental health challenges and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help adults in both crisis and non-crisis situations. The goal of this training is to equip adults with the necessary tools to help others in need or know where to direct someone for additional help. Every adult who completes this course will receive a certification in Mental Health First Aid. Join over 2 million people across the United States who have already been trained in this program overseen by the National Council for Behavioral Health.

Participants are expected to invest 2 hours of self-paced study prior to the 5 hours of live training via Zoom. Capacity is limited to the first 20 people who register to allow for more personalized instruction and interactive discussion.

This training is being offered free of charge as a part of AMITA Health's community benefit planning.
