Description

Egg Tempera Painting

Instructor: Evelyn Bouley

Explore new ways to paint with an ancient media – egg tempera. Renowned American artist Andrew Wyeth used egg tempera paint to create his super realistic and detailed modern masterpieces, including the famous Christina's World. Participants will mix up their own paints in the fashion of the Old Masters using egg yolks and dry natural pigments. Class participants will have the option of depicting the bird of their choice – as a possible "companion" piece to the River Wren paintings from our January workshops. Or, participants may wish to follow a step-by-step painting of a fanciful Red Fox.

Supplies, including pigment, brushes, and wooden panels, will be provided. However, students are strongly encouraged to bring their own small water media brushes because of the tiny details of our subject matter.

All experience levels are welcome. Class size is limited to 16 participants. Educators will receive 3 hours of CPE credit for this workshop.
