Description

Adult ADHD can be a difficult diagnosis for both the client and the counselor. While our knowledge of adult ADHD is growing, it brings with it a new knowledge about complexities in behaviors, co-morbidities, and treatment options. In this workshop, we will focus on the many strengths common to those with ADHD and discuss creative ways to avoid pitfalls.

Presenter: Sarah Pickeral, MA, MSW, LCSW-C

Sarah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who enjoys working with adults, individuals and couples, focusing on issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship struggles, codependency, grief and loss, and life transitions.

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University and the University of Maryland School of Social Work, she has 12 years of experience in hospice care and counseling.



Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to understand common symptoms of Adult ADHD and know how ADHD may present differently in women.
2. Participants will be able to differentiate between ADHD and frequent co-morbidities.
3. Participants will become familiar with medications and natural methods of treatment.
4. Participants will be able to develop a strengths-based treatment plan.

Each 3 CE event costs $45. The approving agencies list the duration as follows: 3 clock hours- NBCC, 3 CE- Maryland BSWE, and 3 continuing education clock hours.

The approving agencies list the duration as follows: 3 clock hours- NBCC, 3 CE- Maryland BSWE, and 3 continuing education clock hours. Grievance Procedure:
1. The complaint or grievance must be submitted in writing by participant, noting the full name and contact information for the participant to ensure proper follow-up. This letter will be reviewed by CentrePointe’s social worker consultant/Executive Director.
2. If needed, the issue will be discussed with other leadership team members of the CentrePointe staff.
3. The participant will have the opportunity to support his/her allegations by arguments however brief and, if need be, by related supporting evidence.
4. The response decision is made by the Executive Director in consultation with the leadership team members. The decision takes into account various perspectives on the situation and relevant facts.
5. Information is shared from the findings with the CentrePointe leadership team to be utilized for improving future courses.
6. CentrePointe will respond to the participant in writing regarding the outcome of the response decision.
