Adolescent iPad Social Club
Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (EST)
Our program is designed for students currently enrolled in grades 5-8 with a range of communication abilities, including students who use communication devices. This program is aimed at students and families impacted by language, communication, and/or sensory difficulties.
The class goal is to use touch technology with multiple iPads to facilitate communication and teamwork between students. We will strive to help each child improve their self-confidence and become a more effective communicator.
The therapy process is designed to improve each child's communication abilities toward age-appropriate levels and provide education and support for social skills and sensory needs to support students and parents.
The teaching activities will include:
- Small Group instruction and hands-on application through iPad activities that will motivate and engage students.
- Rotation though multiple iPad centers with various games and activities to facilitate communication and social interaction.
- Instruction on games with direct adult support at each station and SLP support throughout the class.
- The opportunity for each student to post his or her experience on the SpeechGarden facebook page to experience social media.
Staff, Ratios & Class Size
Each class is taught by a certified SLP - and only the best will do! We will have additional staff to encourage lots of talking and to keep our ratios of students at 8:1 or less. The maximum number of students is 20 per class. An extra class may be opened if registration exceeds the maximum for a single class.
