Event Details

Designed for adolescents ages 13 to 17, and 18 if still in high school, the Adolescent Affected Family Member program is designed to promote the well-being of those who live or care about a person with an alcohol or other drug issue.

Participants will learn through education and guidance:

  • To be comfortable in their awareness that they are unable to change their loved one.
  • To detach emotionally from the loved one's issue.
  • To love the individual, care about him/her and not care for him/her AND understand, without internalizing the concern.
  • Become familiar with and learn to incorporate the three Cs: cause, controla and cure.
  • You can't "fix" the person, only yourself.
  • Skills to help one detach from emotional pain.
  • How to set healthy boundaries in relationships.
  • Learn to be free to care and take responsibility for your own health and happiness.

Class dates include: Sundays, January 7 to 28.

Cost is $40 per person for each four-week program.
