This course is held on 4 consecutive Wednesday nights: January 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th.
In this intensive beginner hands on computer workshop, longtime Photoshop instructor Natasha Calzatti will cut through the complexity in Photoshop and help you to master it as a photographic tool. Natasha will show you the fundamentals of Photoshop and the power of Adobe Bridge. If you stumble around Photoshop like you learned to type (hunting and pecking) then take this opportunity to re-learn your fundamentals for this complex program that has replaced the chemical darkroom.
• Basic concept of color management. Starting with the big question: “How do I make my prints match the image on my monitor?” This introduction will help you understand the ways in which Adobe Photoshop interprets and manages color.
• Adobe Bridge, the next-generation File Browser, where you can process multiple camera raw images at once, resize, rate, and label thumbnails; quickly review images in Slideshow mode, and search metadata.
• Adobe Camera Raw processing, enjoy automatic adjustments of exposure, shadows, and brightness and contrast; and much more.
• Image Manipulation, altering the image size. How should you save your file and why?(TIFF,PSD,JPEG etc…)
Retouching techniques with Content-Aware tools, healing, clone, patch tools.
Introduction to layers and masks, color corrections using adjustment layers, creating selections. As well as montage techniques, cropping, rotation, sharpening, and black & white conversion from color.
Students will be given homework, as a final assignment each student will be making a 13”x19” color or black and white print, using the Epson 4900 or Canon Pro 1 printer.
This class takes place in our state of the art computer lab where each student is assigned a 27-inch iMac 2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 equipped with an Intuos graphics tablet. You do not need to bring a laptop.
