Event description

Description

Join us for an evening of experimental theatre in Worcester city centre. We have two exciting pieces that will be announced soon, but our highlight of the evening is a performance of Daniel Somerville’s Admiring La Stupenda.

Daniel is a lecturer at the University of Worcester, and the piece formed a part of his PhD research which focused on the body’s place in opera. La Stupenda is a nickname given to the opera singer Joan Sutherland, and means The Stupendous in Spanish. Joan was said to possess ‘’a voice of beauty and power, combining extraordinary agility”. We can’t speak for the fantastic Dr Someville’s operatic capability, but we can tell you that it’s a show not to be missed!

Festival Combo tickets are £8, and can be used for both the day and evening events on Thursday. More info about our day events are available on our website, but Thursday's takes place 15:00-17:00 at Café Bliss.

The performance is part of the Provisional Scratch festival, a festival celebrating emerging artists in Worcester. It runs from 17th-20th August in venues around the city, including Wayland’s Yard and Café Bliss.
