Event description

Description

You are invited to the Australian Digital Inclusion Alliance (ADIA) Workshop Series held at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) from 8.30am – 1.00pm AEST Thursday March 15.

A number of digital inclusion experts will be hosting short face-to-face workshops throughout the day. Join us to build your network and create momentum towards an Australia where everyone has the opportunity to make full use of digital technologies.

PROGRAM
8.30am- 10.00am AEST: ADIA- Influencing our future
The Collective Voice Project Team aims to join the voices of many to create more influence on public issues. To achieve this a draft ADIA Public Communications Process was developed and trialled in late 2017, helping the Alliance to submit a response to the federal government’s Digital Economy Strategy. Project Leader Brendan Fitzgerald (641 DI) will facilitate this workshop to finalise the ADIA Collective Voice Communications Process and establish draft priorities, positions and key messages. Help draft our approach to influencing key decision-makers.

Brendan Fitzgerald is the owner of 641 DI – a social enterprise delivering social and digital inclusion outcomes for the community, NFP, local government and library sectors.

10.00am – 10.30am AEST: Morning Tea

10.30am – 12.00pm AEST: Building community, connections and skills
Anna Donaldson (Lively) and Jess Wilson (Good Things Foundation) will reflect on the establishment of digital mentoring programs for older Australians at a local and national level and identify learnings and principles to support the establishment of other digital inclusion programs.

Anna has established Lively - an organisation that brings young and older people together to help each other out and Jess is establishing the Australian Government's Be Connected Network to build digital skills in older Australians.

12.00pm- 1.00pm: Lunch and official close of Workshop Series

Bonus event for researchers

1.00pm – 3.00pm AEST: Digital inclusion research workshop
This digital inclusion research workshop follows up on a successful workshop help in late 2017 led by QUT’s Digital Media Research Centre and attended by a number of industry and sector representatives. The focus of this workshop is to further discuss the three or four project ideas that emerged from Workshop 1 and to develop options for targeting research funding schemes.

EOI: Participants will include those involved in Workshop 1, but if you would like to express your interest in being involved, please email Michael Dezuanni with a brief description of how you can contribute to our emerging digital inclusion research network.

*WHOLE DAY TICKET $65, catering included* Please register before COB Friday March 9.
