Description

“Treating Comorbid Gambling Disorder and Trauma-Related Disorders”

Presenter: Gus Diggs, Ph.D.

Dr. Diggs will be presenting on the treatment of comorbid gambling disorder and trauma-related disorders. Whereas research has started to analyze the relation between addictive and trauma-related disorders, relatively few studies have analyzed treatments for the concurrent treatment of both disorders. Dr. Diggs will provide an overview of evidence-based treatment for trauma-related disorders and discuss how components of these therapies may be integrated into treatment for gambling disorder. Insights gained from neuroimaging studies of addiction and PTSD will be introduced, and the implications of these studies on treatment will be explored. Dr. Diggs will also discuss treatment of gambling disorder specific to Veterans with trauma and provide insights from his work with the Veteran population.
