The Adelaide Sanford Institute is hosting our 5th Educational Conference on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Medgar Evers College. The theme this year is Culturally Responsive Education: A Pedagogy for Empowerment & Excellence. The objective of this conference is to provide information, instructional strategies and best practices to support the academic success of students of African-descent. This is a great opportunity for educators, administrators, parents and community members to attend informative workshops, learn from dynamic keynote speakers and network.

There are five strands for this conference:

  • Strand I: Academic Excellence for Diverse Learners

  • Strand II: Cultural Knowledge

  • Strand III: Contemporary Culturally Responsive Pedagogy

  • Strand IV: Social Justice

  • Strand V: Creating Classroom that address Social/Emotional Issues

The Keynote note speaker is Dr. Yvette Jackson, CEO National Urban Alliance for Effective Education.

Vice Chancellor Emerita, NYS Board of Regents, Dr. Adelaide L. Sanford;

President of Medgar Evers College, CUNY, Dr. Rudolph Crew;

President of the Eagle Academy Foundation, David Banks;

Legislative Director for the Alliance for Quality Education, Jasmine Gripper; and

Discussion Facilitator: ASI Board Chair, Dr. Lester W. Young, Jr.
